This database contains information on selected
medicinal and aromatic plants from different countries as
a result of cooperation between ICS-UNIDO and these countries as National Focal Point members.
The documentation has been done under the sub heads of General Information which is mainly country specific.
This information comprises of botanical name, synonym, family, plant photographs and part used, common names,
major uses, trade information and sources of available technology. The Scientific Information sub head covers
literature based information incorporating ethnobotanical, pharmacological, chemical constituents, quality
control parameters including chromatographic finger printing profile, DNA fingerprinting, safety data, clinical
trials, contraindications, drug interactions, dosage, registration status, monographs, people and projects,
patents, references and some additional information on the plant.
The database is periodically updated and expanded. At present it provides information on 95 most important
plants from 13 countries viz.
Chile, China, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, India, Malaysia, Mali, Panama, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey.
